Durham StreetcarBeautiful architecture blends with memories of a time gone by at the historic Durham Museum. Opened in 1931, Union Station was built by Union Pacific Railroad as the showpiece to the city of its headquarters. Considered one of Omaha's most unique treasures, the station is one of the best examples of art deco architecture in the country. The Durham Museum offers unique, hands-on learning for people of all ages. Enjoy an extraordinary array of permanent exhibits including restored train cars, 1940's storefronts, HO Model trains, numerous artifacts showing the history of the region and the Byron Reed collection, which includes some of the world's rarest coins and documents. During your stay be sure to stop by the authentic soda fountain and enjoy a phosphate or malt. There are also impressive temporary exhibitions through The Durham's affiliation with the Smithsonian and close ties with the Library of Congress, National Archives, and Chicago's Field Museum.

Durham ConductorThe Durham Museum is located in Omaha's Historic Old Market at 801 South 10th Street. Located on the 10th Street bridge, the museum can be accessed from both 10th Street and Leavenworth Street. The museum has a two-level parking deck that is FREE to all visitors.

Test Your Brainpower in Mindbender Mansion!

Enter the wonderfully puzzling world of Mindbender Mansion this summer at The Durham Museum. Created by the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, Mindbender Mansion is an eclectic place full of brainteasers and interactive challenges guaranteed to test the brain power and problem solving skills of even the most experienced puzzlers. When you enter the fun and quirky mansion, you will be invited to join the Mindbender Society by gathering hidden clues and secret passwords scattered throughout the various thematic rooms of the house. The clues and passwords are revealed by solving select brainteasers and group challenges.

'Throughout the exhibition, you will be encouraged to think outside the box and collaborate with fellow mansion guests to meet individual and group challenges. The 40 individual puzzles and five large-scale group activities range from easy to incredibly challenging and are an excellent tool for explaining mathematical and physical science concepts. There are moments where you will lose yourself in the excitement of some of the more physically taxing brainteasers and forget that you're actually learning something. This magical exhibition is fun for kids and adults of all ages. Just remember to let the little guys have a chance on the bumper cars too (yes, we said bumper cars.)

Mindbender Mansion will be open May 26 through September 2, 2012.
