Omaha is home to more than 250 parks which encompass 11,000 acres of parkland. Parks help to create a sense of community by bringing neighborhoods together. Relax, play, exercise, or just take in a little fresh air and enjoy nature. Check out some of Omaha’s parks that have undergone improvements in 2023, like the renovated sprayground at Upland Park. Below are some exciting projects happening in 2024!

2024 Projects In The Parks
- Adams Park Renovation: A new playground is headed to Adams Park this Summer as part of phase I of the Adams Park Master Plan.
- Gallagher Park Renovation: The first round of renovations in 2024 will include a new playground, updates to the memorial fountain plaza, adding a spayground, a restroom building, and additional sidewalks throughout the park. 
- Lee Valley Sprayground: Lee Valley Pool is being transformed into a brand new sprayground! 
 
BMX Facility
Grab your bike and head over to Hefflinger Park to ride a few laps on the BMX track! The season for this facility is March 31st to November 15th. 

Discovery Guide
Explore Omaha's Parks, Pools, Community Centers, and more with our annual Discovery Guide publication. With over 240 parks that cover nearly 11,000 acres of parkland, we provide many opportunities to be active and enjoy popular activities and events.
 
We manage four public dog parks in the Omaha area. Each location has an all-dog area and a small dog area open from dawn to dusk every day. 

Freedom Park
Freedom Park serves as a United States Naval Museum on the Missouri River and is home of the USS Marlin SST-2 Submarine and the USS Hazard AM-240 Minesweeper, Anchor & Propeller Garden, Shipboard Rocket Launchers and a Douglas A-4D Skyhawk Jet Fighter and other aircraft.

Marinas & Boating
We manage one marina at N.P. Dodge Park. Boating is available at a number of different lakes around town!

Trails
There are over 120 miles of paved trail throughout the City of Omaha with a number of those trails connecting to trails outside of the City. A map of the metro area trails titled "Paths of Discovery" is available on-line and in a hard copy form at community centers, libraries, bike shops, and other establishments around the City.
