While visiting the Emilia-Romagna region in northern Italy, Chef Nick Strawhecker enjoyed a glass of wine with cured meats and cheeses. The shop served the meal with warm disks of bread called tigelle. Chef Nick fell in love and decided to introduce this new passion to Omaha with his restaurant, Forno. Armed with a custom-built press from Italy, he began serving boards of meats, cheeses, fresh vegetables, housemade pickles, and specialty spreads with tigelle. Guests take the tigelle and decide how they want to stuff them – building their own sandwiches and individual meals. House specialty pizzas, pastas, and other dishes round out a delicious menu worth sharing with friends.
