The longest pedestrian bridge to link two states, providing safe crossing from Omaha to Council Bluffs over the Missouri River for walking and biking enthusiasts, connecting to 150 miles of trails on each side. The Cable Stay bridge is 3,000 ft long, including the landings; the walkway is 15 ft wide, and allow visitors to stand about 60 ft above the river. Lights outline the deck, cables and pylons at night, a spectacular sight! On the Nebraska side, enjoy the 3-acre Omaha Plaza with an interactive water jet fountain, River Critters Environmental Play Area and access to the National Park Service Visitors Center. Starting May 23, 2014, the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge Plaza will be rocking with Bridge Beats, a free music series. Bridge Beats is every Friday (May 23 through June 27. 2014) at 6 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. The plaza is surrounded by a large amphitheater-like grass seating. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets. More info at: BridgeBeats.com.
