Suzanne and Walter Scott Aquarium Named One of TripAdvisor's "15 Top Aquariums in the U.S. You Need to Experience"

Omaha, Neb. (March 20, 2018) – TripAdvisor has named the Suzanne and Walter Scott Aquarium at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium one of the "15 Top Aquariums in the U.S. You Need to Experience." The Scott Aquarium, which is one of the only two aquariums that is housed within a zoo, is ranked eighth on the list.

The algorithm is based on reviews on TripAdvisor.com. According to TripAdvisor, the site analyzed every traveler review on the site identifying which destinations across America were most known for their aquariums. Aquariums on the list are "perfect for kid-friendly outings, rainy afternoons, and/or exploring new cities across the country."

The Scott Aquarium initially opened to the public in 1995 and underwent a renovation which was completed in 2012. The Aquarium features naturalistic displays of aquatic habitats from polar regions, temperate oceans, coral reefs and the Amazon. A highlight of the Aquarium is the Shark Reef, a 70-foot long tunnel where guests come face-to-face with species such as sharks, sea turtles and rays. Zoo guests also encounter ocean birds, including Antarctic penguins, tufted puffins and common murres, jelly fish, eels, crabs and other ocean animals throughout the Aquarium.

"We are honored to be featured on TripAdvisor's list," said Dennis Pate, president and CEO of Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. "Not only are we in the company of so many great aquariums across the country, but knowing the ranking is derived from Zoo visitors' reviews makes us feel very proud."

Other aquariums on the list include Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, Calif.; Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, Ga.; and National Aquarium in Baltimore, Md.
