The interior of the restaurant Block 16 in Omaha.Block 16 | Downtown | Mondays 11 a.m.–2 p.m.

Don't let the construction deter you. Block 16 uses its own farm-grown produce and runs daily special sandwiches. The Duck Duck Goose fries — duck confit, crispy skin, cheese curds, mayo, gravy and gooseberry gastrique — are the reason people come back. Lunch only on Mondays.

M's Pub | Old Market Entertainment District | Mondays 11 a.m.–midnight

Omaha's Old Market institution has been the answer to "where should we go?" for decades. The Lahvosh — an Armenian cracker with havarti and other topping choices — is the move. So is the warm duck salad. So is staying until midnight.

A plate of food at the restaurant Twisted Fork.Twisted Fork | Old Market Entertainment District | Mondays 11 a.m.–8 p.m.

Chef-driven comfort food with a cowboy twist. Happy hour runs 3 p.m.–6 p.m. daily, which makes it a logical stop between afternoon sessions and dinner plans.

Afternoon & Evening

A couple walking hand-in-hand in front of Le Bouillon restaurant in The Old Market Entertainment District.Le Bouillon | Old Market Entertainment District | Mondays 2 p.m.–9 p.m.

Mercury | Downtown | Mondays 4 p.m.–midnight

Omaha's best case for the craft cocktail as a serious pursuit. Try the Theater District — pork-infused bourbon, miso, fennel, black salt and ancho chili — to lean into the drama. Private barrel old fashioneds anchor the whiskey program. Charcuterie and beer cheese fondue if you need something to eat.

A plate of food from the restaurant Gather in Omaha.Gather in Omaha | Old Market Entertainment District | Mondays 5 p.m.–9 p.m.
