Established Art Gallery Celebrates
Lewis Art Gallery has much cause for celebration as it heads into its 42nd year of business, making it the oldest art gallery in town. Originally opened at 8900 W. Dodge Road by Carolyn Lewis, the successful business remains family owned and operated today by Carolyn’s daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Joe Wynn.
Also celebrating a landmark anniversary of 20 years is the Personal Threads Boutique, operated by Joe. Disappointed with the lack of high quality supply outlets in the area, Carolyn mixed business with pleasure and started PTB in the gallery’s second location at 8025 W. Dodge Road.
Now, both stores are celebrating five years at their current location at 8600 Cass Street. The simple architecture of the building gives way to 1000’s of pieces of beautiful and unique artwork by local, regional, and international artists.
On the first level you can find a wonderful blend of traditional, transitional, and contemporary art. Complimentary to the art, the gallery also supplies its own superb custom framing along with hundreds of lamps, tables, and the perfect accessories for any home adding the personal touch that can be so difficult to find.
Heading up to the second floor you can find Personal Threads Boutique and much more gallery. There is a vast abundance of different yarns to choose from found in every color, not to mention various fibers, knitting and crochet supplies, needlepoint, buttons, patterns, and plenty more. Apart from supplies, you can also sign up for the popular knitting classes taught in the store.
As one of the top ranking businesses in Omaha Magazine’s “Best of Omaha” for the past several years, it is a must visit. The gallery and boutique are both open for business Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
