OMAHA, Neb., Oct. 1, 2026 – Visit Omaha announced today the findings of the latest Tourism Economics report by Oxford Economics Company, revealing Omaha tourism’s total economic impact reached $2.6 billion in 2025.
According to the independent research study, Omaha welcomed 14.8 million travelers, a 0.7 percent year-over-year increase. The visitor breakdown includes 8.2 million day-trippers and 6.6 million overnight guests.
“Tourism serves as a powerful economic driver for our local community — filling hotels, boosting attendance at area attractions and entertainment venues, and supporting local restaurants and shops,” said Jasmyn Goodwin, Executive Director of Visit Omaha. Per the report, $1.6 billion in visitor spending was distributed across key sectors:
● $431 million or 26 percent on Food and Beverage
● $374 million or 22 percent on Lodging/Hotel Stays
● $346 million or 21 percent on Retail
● $291 million or 17 percent on Entertainment
● $232 million or 14 percent on Transportation
This total economic impact reflects a combination of direct visitor spending and the indirect and induced sales generated as those dollars circulate throughout the local business ecosystem.
“Tourism directly strengthens our local economy and tax base, generating $348 million in state, local and federal taxes in 2025,” Goodwin added. “Visitor spending also sustains more than 16,000 jobs across Omaha, meaning one in every 28 local jobs is supported by tourism.”
As Visit Omaha targets leisure, convention, sports, meeting and motorcoach travelers, the city’s broader growth provides a strong tailwind for the sector.
“Omaha tourism is expanding alongside our city,” said Goodwin. “With more than $9 billion in new developments — ranging from Omaha’s Airport to CHI Health Center Omaha — our view remains optimistic.”
