Omaha grabs the spotlight in front of thousands of national convention planners. Team Omaha received the "Best of Show-Best Booth Staff” award at the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Annual Meeting and Expo in San Diego, CA. The competition included 550 exhibitors representing almost every major U.S. city, Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, cruise lines and every major hotel corporation. The voters represent association executives who play an important role in determining where their annual conventions are held.
“It's all about building relationships, receiving this honor reinforces the fact that our team has the energy and ability to brand our city as fun and convention friendly,” said Dana Markel, Executive Director of the Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau. “The buzz this event creates for Omaha is a huge step toward enhancing Omaha"s image as a convention destination.”
Omaha also received the top honor during ASAE’s Food and Wine Classic. The sold out event held on board the USS Midway was a competition to see which city, country or hotel could provide the best culinary experience. Omaha and its partner Omaha Steaks won the most votes from over 2,200 attendees. Other competitors included, the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau, Hilton Hotels Corporation, The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs and the Canadian Tourism Bureau.
“Association members were wowed by the warmth and sincerity of the Omaha Team,” said Carylann Assante, Vice President of Development for ASAE. “Our members walked away knowing Omaha is a great destination with great people and great food.”
Team Omaha, lead by the Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau includes Qwest Center Omaha, Hilton Omaha, Doubletree and the Holiday Inn Convention Center.
