It’s the best time of year to experience Hot Shops Art Center, where 90-plus artists work on their craft. During their Winter Open House, artists open their studio doors to the public for art demonstrations, showcasing their glass blowing, clay firing, bronze pouring, weaving, painting, iron forging and other talents. Get one-on-one access to the artists with the chance to ask questions and see how they work. Fontenelle Forest’s annual Winter Wonderland event opens Dec. 9 with two full days of fun, family-friendly activities including crafts, complimentary hot cocoa, pictures with Santa Claus, carol hiking (just like what it sounds!) and special raptor guests. For the rest of the month, enjoy the beautiful decorations in the Great Hall and stroll the first loop of a lighted Riverview Boardwalk.
