Bob Kerrey BridgeI can't believe it was over two weeks ago since we were in Omaha. It was quite a whirlwind of a weekend and my days since getting back have been even more so but I am finally getting around to sorting through the pictures and I'm so excited to share our favorite places around the fun city. I have to be honest - Omaha pleasantly surprised me!

Moments That Take - OCM

We haven't been on a vacation since before Grace was born. It's been WAY too long and I've been itching to get out of town. Mike wasn't too thrilled about taking the kids on a fancy vacation this year since we've been very focused on getting out of debt so I decided to check out kid-friendly vacation spots near Kansas City. It didn't take more than a few minutes to decide that we needed to go to Omaha, Nebraska.

Midwest Wanderer - Zoo

Trip Advisor readers rank Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo as the best zoo in the world. Other rankings and polls consistently rank the zoo at the top or among the top. Of all of the zoos I have visited, I have to agree that Henry Doorly Zoo is the best, taking into consideration mainly the animal exhibits but also other zoo attractions, as well.

Omaha Restaurant Week - A Fit & Spicy Life

When you think about Omaha, most people have never been or think it’s just flyover country. I had been for work a few times but never really had time to check out Omaha. When Visit Omaha contacted me about coming for a weekend I was really excited. It just so happened to be Omaha Restaurant Week as well. Delicious food and a chance to try new restaurants. Sign me up.

Sharing all several dozen of my Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo pictures yesterday seemed a bit excessive. After all, the post was rather long as it is. Looking at all of those pictures would have really made it lengthy. Yet, I did take some fun pictures that did not make it into the post. What better way to show them than to have a “Friday Photography” post? Here are more pictures from our great day at the zoo!

Omaha Zoo - young mama tales

On our way back from Iowa at the end of July (has it already been that long?!) we decided to break up the 11 hr drive (Des Moines-Denver) with a stop in Omaha. Its about 2.5-3 hrs from Des Moines, so my mom and nephew came with us! We made a day out of it and went to the amazing Omaha Zoo and then stayed at a hotel really close by. We got there shortly after the zoo opened and spent 6 hours there and still didn't see it all...

Omaha Zoo

The Omaha Fashion Week events brought us up to Omaha, but on this weekend getaway we just couldn't pass up another visit to the zoo. They really have one of the best zoos, and earlier this summer, we only made it through less than half! This time, we concentrated on the indoor exhibits, starting with the Aquarium, which is really cool.

#OFW - Pretty, Polished, Perfect

We spent most of Labor Day Weekend doing chores inside and out; we played for most of August, shirking our adult responsibilities. Travel, blogging, back-to-school, weddings and more made it a fantastic (if not busy) month. We sent summer out with a bang this year, heading North to Omaha for one last quick family retreat.
